Don't talk, but you can still EAT
So on this island, you can no longer use a mobile electronic device while driving. I was watching the news and they said that the first person went to court today for a ticket. The girl said she was pulled over for another violation and while she was waiting for her ticket to get written she called her sister on her cell phone and the police officer gave her another ticket for talking on her cell phone. WTF? Apparently her car needed to be turned OFF for it to be legal. Do they have any idea how many cars I've passed on the side of the road w/people talking on cell phones? I've even pulled over on the side of the road to answer my phone (safely). I didn't turn off my car, so I guess it was still illegal. That's stupid. I can't talk on the phone, but I can still eat a bento, put on makeup (if I wore any), reach into the back seat to check on my small child, read the newspaper, or write something down -- don't laugh, I've seen people do lots of strange things while driving to town in the mornings. Oh, and if you go to court, it will be up to each cited driver to prove their innocence before a judge. Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?
