Papa nickel bread? Huh?
Today, my child tells me that his mouth is sleepy and he can't get it to work right. It's because I'm having difficulty trying to understand what he's asking me for. I keep hearing "Papa nickel bread" (which makes me think of the Beard Papa cream puffs),but finally the mystery is solved. He says it's from California and suddenly the light bulb goes on in my head... I ask him "Do you mean pumpernickel bread?" He smiles and says "Yes!" Don't ask me how pumpernickel and California are associated, cause I haven't got a clue and don't ask me where he's found out about pumpernickel. What can I say? My child is strange.
Sometimes when I really can't make out what he's talking about, I just fake it and say "Ohhhhh, I understand." And he seems happy with that. He can only tolerate me guessing 3-4 times before frustration sets in (for both of us). It's a learning process. I guess I'll understand him for a few years, then he'll start to speak teenager and I'll be clueless again...
My mood: tired of work, glad to have the weekend again (even though I still have to do a few things for work), and I'm really itchy (from stress).
